Heart & Cardiac Tests

Assess Your Heart Health Early

Why Are Cardiac Tests Important?

Heart disease remains one of the leading causes of death in Singapore, often developing silently over years. Many people don’t realise they’re at risk until they experience a heart attack, stroke, or severe chest pain.

That’s why routine heart and cardiac testing is essential for early detection, especially if you have risk factors like high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, or a family history of cardiovascular disease.

At Regis Medical, we offer fast, accurate heart screening panels that assess your cardiovascular risk—so you can take proactive steps toward a healthier heart.

What Do Heart & Cardiac Tests Check For?

Cardiac tests look for warning signs of heart disease and measure how well your heart and blood vessels are functioning.

Our standard panel includes:

  • Electrocardiogram (ECG): Measures electrical activity of the heart, detects irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmias) or past heart attacks
  • Cholesterol & Lipid Profile: Total cholesterol, LDL (“bad” cholesterol), HDL (“good” cholesterol), triglycerides
  • Blood Pressure Measurement – at rest and optionally with 24-hour monitoring
  • HbA1c or Fasting Glucose: To assess risk from diabetes
  • High-Sensitivity CRP (hs-CRP): A marker of inflammation linked to cardiovascular risk
  • Cardiac Enzymes (if symptomatic): Troponin, CK-MB – may be ordered in chest pain or emergency scenarios
  • Chest X-ray / Echocardiogram: Referral available for further evaluation

Who Should Get Heart Screening?

You should consider cardiac testing if you:

  • Are aged 40 and above (even with no symptoms)
  • Have a family history of heart disease or stroke
  • Are managing high blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholesterol
  • Experience symptoms like chest tightness, shortness of breath, palpitations, or dizziness
  • Smoke or have a sedentary lifestyle
  • Are overweight or have a high BMI
  • Are starting a new exercise program or fitness routine

Early Symptoms of Heart Problems

Many people don’t feel unwell—but some may notice:

  • Chest discomfort or tightness
  • Breathlessness, even with mild activity
  • Unexplained fatigue
  • Irregular heartbeat or skipped beats
  • Swollen ankles or legs
  • Light-headedness or fainting
  • Discomfort in the jaw, neck, back, or arms

If you’re unsure, a quick screening can offer clarity and peace of mind.

General

Why should I consider heart screening?
Heart disease often develops silently. Tests like ECGs, treadmill stress tests, and cholesterol panels can detect problems early—before symptoms appear—so you can take action to reduce your risk of heart attacks or strokes.
Who should get these tests?

You may benefit from cardiac screening if you:

  • Are ≥40 years old
  • Have high blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholesterol
  • Are overweight, smoke, or have a sedentary lifestyle
  • Have a family history of heart disease
  • Experience symptoms like chest discomfort, unusual breathlessness, or palpitations
What is a 12-lead ECG?

It’s a quick, painless test where electrodes are placed on your chest, arms, and legs to record your heart’s electrical activity. It helps detect irregular heart rhythms, prior heart attacks, or signs of heart strain.

What is a treadmill ECG (stress test)?

This test monitors your heart while you walk or jog on a treadmill, gradually increasing speed and incline. It checks how your heart responds to exertion and can help reveal coronary artery disease that may not show up at rest.

What happens if my test results are abnormal?
Our doctor will discuss next steps, which may include lifestyle changes, medications, or referral to a cardiologist for further evaluation (like echocardiography or coronary CT scans).
