Metabolic Test Singapore

Understand your body’s inner workings — from energy levels to long-term health risks.

Our metabolic test helps you uncover hidden imbalances in your blood sugar, cholesterol, liver, kidney, and hormone levels. Whether you're feeling sluggish or just staying proactive, it gives you the data to take control before symptoms arise.

What Is a Metabolic Test?

A metabolic test is a set of blood tests that assess how efficiently your body processes sugars, fats, proteins, and maintains organ and hormone function.

It’s commonly used to detect or monitor:

  • Early signs of diabetes or prediabetes
  • High cholesterol and cardiovascular risk
  • Liver and kidney function
  • Electrolyte and fluid balance
  • Metabolic and hormonal imbalances

It’s ideal for preventive health screening, especially if you’re experiencing unexplained weight gain, fatigue, or have a family history of chronic diseases.

Who Should Get a Metabolic Test?

You may benefit from a metabolic test if you:

  • Have gained weight or find it difficult to lose weight
  • Feel tired, thirsty, or visit the toilet more often
  • Have a family history of diabetes, heart disease, or high cholesterol
  • Are over age 40 or have a sedentary lifestyle
  • Have conditions like PCOS or suspected hormonal imbalances
  • Are starting a new fitness, diet, or wellness journey
  • Simply want to keep tabs on your overall health

General

What is a metabolic test?
A metabolic test measures how well your body’s metabolism is functioning. This includes checking how your body uses energy, processes nutrients, and maintains essential chemical balances. Tests may include blood work, breath analysis, or urine samples, depending on what your doctor is assessing.
What does a metabolic test measure?
Metabolic tests can check for:
  • Blood sugar levels and insulin function
  • Cholesterol and triglyceride levels
  • Electrolyte balance
  • Kidney and liver function
  • Thyroid hormone levels
  • Resting metabolic rate (how many calories you burn at rest)
Why might I need a metabolic test?
Our doctor may recommend it if you:
  • Have unexplained weight gain or loss
  • Experience fatigue, weakness, or low energy
  • Have symptoms suggesting hormonal imbalance
  • Are monitoring chronic conditions like diabetes, thyroid disease, or high cholesterol
  • Want to optimise your nutrition, fitness, or weight management plan
How is the test done?
Most metabolic tests usually involve a blood sample taken from a vein in your arm. Some assessments may require fasting. Our doctor will advise you on the specific procedure.
Do I need to fast before a metabolic test?
Some components — such as glucose or lipid testing — require fasting for 8–12 hours. You can drink plain water, but should avoid food, coffee, and alcohol until after the test.
How long does it take to get results?
Most results are often ready within 3-5 working days
Can metabolic tests detect all health problems?
No — metabolic tests are highly useful, but they are just one part of a complete health assessment. Our doctor will interpret your results alongside your symptoms, history, and possibly other tests.
How often should I have a metabolic test?
This depends on your age, risk factors, and health goals. Healthy adults may benefit from testing every 1–2 years, while those with chronic conditions may need more frequent monitoring.
