Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) Singapore

Restore Vitality. Improve Energy, Mood & Performance.

Low testosterone (also known as male hypogonadism) can impact everything from your energy levels to your confidence — yet many men suffer in silence, assuming it’s just “ageing”.

At Regis Medical, we offer testosterone testing and safe, doctor-led TRT to help you feel like yourself again.

What Is Testosterone Replacement Therapy?

Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) is a medical treatment designed to restore testosterone levels to a healthy range. It is commonly used in men with clinically diagnosed low testosterone, confirmed through blood testing.

TRT can be delivered through:

  • Injections (e.g. testosterone undecanoate, enanthate)
  • Topical gels or creams
  • Implants or oral tablets (less common in Singapore)

Symptoms of Low Testosterone

Low Testosterone may present subtly or develop gradually over time. Common symptoms include:

  • Persistent fatigue or low energy
  • Reduced sex drive or erectile difficulties
  • Mood changes, irritability, or depression
  • Difficulty building or maintaining muscle mass
  • Weight gain (especially around the belly)
  • Reduced motivation, focus, or drive
  • Hair thinning or reduced facial/body hair
  • Low sperm count or fertility issues

Who Should Consider a Testosterone Test?

You may benefit from a testosterone blood test if you:

  • Are aged 40 and above
  • Experience multiple symptoms listed above
  • Have fertility concerns
  • Have a history of pituitary or testicular issues
  • Are managing chronic illnesses like obesity, diabetes, or sleep apnea

Our doctor may also screen for testosterone levels as part of a male hormone panel if you’re experiencing general fatigue or sexual health changes.

Is TRT Right for Me?

TRT is not for everyone, and improper use can lead to complications. At our clinic, we follow a strict clinical pathway:

  • Initial consultation to assess symptoms and health history
  • Hormone blood test (typically includes Total Testosterone, Free Testosterone, LH, FSH, SHBG, and Prolactin)
  • Review of underlying causes (e.g. obesity, stress, medications)
  • If suitable, we’ll discuss TRT options, risks, and benefits

*TRT is only initiated when medically indicated, based on consistent low testosterone results and clinical symptoms.

Benefits of Testosterone Therapy (When Done Right)

  • Increased energy levels and stamina
  • Improved libido and sexual performance
  • Greater muscle strength and fat reduction
  • Enhanced mood, focus, and motivation
  • Better bone density and physical performance
  • Improved sleep quality in some cases

Results vary — and TRT is most effective when paired with lifestyle adjustments, including diet, exercise, and sleep management.

Monitoring & Safety

TRT must be monitored regularly to ensure safety and optimal results. Follow-up appointments include:

  • Repeat blood tests (testosterone levels, PSA, blood count)
  • Blood pressure and prostate screening
  • Symptom tracking and side effect review

Improper or unsupervised use can increase the risk of:

  • Acne or oily skin
  • Increased red blood cell count
  • Reduced sperm production or fertility
  • Prostate enlargement
  • Sleep apnea worsening

That’s why self-medicating or sourcing online testosterone is dangerous — always consult a licensed medical professional.

General

What is testosterone deficiency
Also called hypogonadism, it refers to lower-than-normal testosterone levels. This can be due to ageing, chronic illness, obesity, testicular injury, or hormonal disorders.
What is TRT?

TRT involves giving exogenous testosterone to restore normal levels. It helps relieve symptoms of testosterone deficiency and improve quality of life when clinically indicated.

How soon will I see results?
  • 2–4 weeks: energy, mood, libido
  • 3-6 months: muscle mass, fat loss, erections, bone density
  • However, results vary and full benefits may take up to 6 months or longer.
    Is TRT safe?
TRT is generally safe when properly prescribed and monitored. However, it may not be suitable for everyone. Our doctor will assess for risks such as:
  • Family and medical history
  • Chronic disease (Diabetes, hypertension,arrhythmias,etc
  • Cardiovascular Health
  • Heart disease or stroke history
  • Metabolic, kidney and liver health
  • Prostate issues (e.g. benign enlargement, cancer risk)
  • Testes
  • Regular blood monitoring is essential to ensure safety.
    Will TRT affect fertility?
Yes. TRT can suppress sperm production, especially in younger men. If you wish to conceive in the near future, alternatives like clomiphene or hCG may be considered instead of TRT.
What are the possible side effects of TRT?
TRT is generally safe when properly prescribed and monitored. However, it may not be suitable for everyone. Our doctor will assess for risks such as:
    • Acne or oily skin
    • Mood swings or irritability
    • Increased red blood cell count (polycythaemia)
    • Swelling in the legs
    • Reduced fertility
    • Breast tenderness or enlargement (rare)
    • Worsening of sleep apnoea (in predisposed individuals)
    • Prostate enlargement or elevated PSA
Regular blood monitoring is essential to ensure safety.
How often do I need follow-up tests?
    Typically:
  • 6–12 weeks after starting TRT
  • Then every 3–6 months to monitor testosterone levels, PSA, FBC, and liver function.
  • Can I stop TRT once I feel better?
TRT is usually a long-term therapy. Stopping it may cause your symptoms to return, and your natural testosterone production may not fully recover, especially if you've been on treatment for a while. Always consult our doctor before making changes.
