If you are taking PrEP, whether prescribed in Singapore, purchased online, or obtained from a clinic overseas, you need regular medical monitoring to stay safe. PrEP is highly effective at preventing HIV, but it is not a set-and-forget medication. Without proper follow-up, real risks go undetected.
At Regis Medical, we provide structured sexual health monitoring for PrEP users. We do not prescribe PrEP or sell PrEP medication. We focus entirely on the clinical oversight that your PrEP regimen requires - HIV surveillance, STI screening, kidney and liver function, Hepatitis B status and your overall metabolic health.
It does not matter where you get your medication. What matters is that someone is checking that it is working, that it is not affecting your body, and that nothing else has gone unnoticed.
Why PrEP Monitoring Matters
- HIV surveillance - Pre-exposure Prophylaxis must only be taken by people who are HIV-negative. If you become HIV-positive while on PrEP and continue taking it without knowing, the virus can potentially develop resistance to the drugs in PrEP, the same drugs used in first-line HIV treatment. This can limit your future treatment options. Quarterly HIV testing is the safest way to catch this early.
- Kidney and bone health - Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF), the active ingredient in most generic PrEP, can affect kidney function and bone mineral density over time. These changes are usually mild and reversible, but they need to be monitored, especially if you have been on PrEP for more than a year or have pre-existing kidney concerns.
- STD screening - PrEP prevents HIV. It does not prevent chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, herpes, hepatitis, or HPV(human papillomavirus). Studies consistently show that STD rates among PrEP users are higher than the general population, partly because of reduced condom use. Many of these infections, particularly pharyngeal and rectal chlamydia and gonorrhoea can be completely asymptomatic. Without regular screening, they go undetected and untreated, increasing the risk of complications and onward transmission.
- Hepatitis B - If you are hepatitis B positive (including carriers who may not know their status), stopping PrEP abruptly can trigger a hepatitis flare. Baseline hepatitis B screening ensures this risk is identified before it becomes a problem.
Which Package Is Right for You?
We offer two types of monitoring: annual check-in packages for patients who are already being monitored elsewhere and want a thorough periodic review, and a longitudinal programme for patients who want Regis Medical as their ongoing monitoring partner.

Annual Sexual Health Screen for PrEP Users (Men)
These packages combine a full STI panel with metabolic and organ function blood work - kidney function, liver function, full blood count, lipid panel, HbA1c, bone profile, urine analysis, and stool occult blood. This is not just an STD test. It is a complete health check designed for sexually active adults, with sexual health screening built in.
All prices include a standard doctor consultation and are before GST. Some tests may require fasting, our staff will advise when you book.
On-site screening is available for groups of 10 or more, with at least 7 working days' notice.
For organisations sending teams overseas regularly, we offer group screening at $4,000 for 5 persons and $8,000 for 10, any gender pairing. For larger groups, WhatsApp us to discuss.

Why 3-site testing matters: Pharyngeal (throat) and rectal gonorrhoea and chlamydia are frequently asymptomatic, you can carry an infection at one site with no symptoms while testing negative at another. Single-site testing misses these infections entirely. If you have had oral or receptive anal sex, multi-site screening is clinically recommended.

Your results are tracked longitudinally so trends are visible over time, and your care is coordinated by one clinical team rather than pieced together across multiple providers.
The programme is open to all PrEP users regardless of gender, dosing regimen (daily or event-based), or where your PrEP medication is prescribed or purchased. At your initial consultation, our doctor will review your medical history, current PrEP regimen, and exposure profile to confirm the monitoring schedule that is right for you.

- Attend your appointment at our Holland Village or Katong clinic. Bring any recent test results you have - this helps our doctor avoid repeating tests unnecessarily.
- Our doctor will take a confidential history, collect the relevant samples, and explain what each test is checking for.
- Results are typically ready within 1–7 working days. We will contact you to discuss your results and, if you are on the monitoring programme, schedule your next quarterly visit.

Regis Medical provides clinical monitoring services for individuals who are taking HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP). We monitor your HIV status, sexual health, and relevant organ function through scheduled testing and consultations. We do not prescribe, supply, dispense, or endorse any specific PrEP medication.
- Medication responsibility. The effectiveness of PrEP depends on its formulation, quality, storage, and how it is taken. As we do not prescribe or supply your PrEP medication, Regis Medical is not responsible for the efficacy, authenticity, quality, or proper storage of any PrEP medication you obtain from external sources — whether purchased in Singapore, overseas, or online. If you have concerns about your medication, consult the prescribing doctor or pharmacist who supplied it.
- Adherence. PrEP is only effective when taken as directed. Missed doses, incorrect dosing schedules, or gaps in use significantly reduce its protective effect. Our monitoring programme tracks your health markers — it does not verify or guarantee your adherence to your prescribed regimen. It is your responsibility to follow the dosing instructions provided by your prescribing doctor.
- PrEP does not prevent other sexually transmitted infections. PrEP protects against HIV only. It does not prevent chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, herpes, hepatitis, HPV, or any other STI. Our monitoring packages include STI screening for this reason, but screening detects infections after they have been acquired — it does not prevent them.
- Monitoring is not a guarantee. Regular monitoring reduces risk by enabling early detection of HIV seroconversion, STI acquisition, and medication-related side effects. However, no monitoring programme can guarantee that an infection or adverse effect will be detected at every visit. Biological window periods mean that some infections may not be detectable at the time of testing. A negative result reflects your status at the time the sample was taken and within the limits of the test's detection window.
- Attendance and scheduling. Our programme is structured around clinical guidelines recommending HIV testing every 3 months, STI screening every 3 to 6 months, and kidney function assessment every 6 to 12 months. If you miss, delay, or skip scheduled visits, the clinical value of the monitoring programme is reduced. Regis Medical is not liable for any adverse outcomes arising from missed or delayed monitoring appointments.
- This service is not a substitute for a prescribing relationship. If you are obtaining PrEP without an ongoing prescribing relationship with a doctor — for example, through online purchase or bulk supply from overseas — you may not have a physician actively overseeing your PrEP regimen, assessing your ongoing suitability for the medication, or managing drug interactions. Our monitoring programme covers testing and health surveillance, but it is not a replacement for the clinical oversight that a prescribing doctor provides.
- Hepatitis B. PrEP medications containing tenofovir also suppress hepatitis B virus replication. If you are a hepatitis B carrier, stopping PrEP without medical guidance can trigger a hepatitis B flare. We screen for hepatitis B as part of our monitoring, but if you discontinue PrEP for any reason, inform both your prescribing doctor and our team immediately.
- Clinical decisions. All tests, results, and recommendations are based on your reported medical and sexual history, the information you provide at each visit, and the clinical judgement of your treating physician. Incomplete or inaccurate disclosure of your medical history, sexual activity, symptoms, or medication use may affect the appropriateness of the tests ordered and the interpretation of results.
- Pricing and scope. Package prices and inclusions are subject to change. Any tests not included in your selected package that your doctor recommends during a visit will be discussed with you and charged separately. All prices are before GST unless otherwise stated.

About PrEP & STD Monitoring
No. We focus on monitoring and sexual health screening. If you need a PrEP prescription, we can point you in the right direction, but our role is to make sure you are safe while taking it, not to sell you medication.
You may continue to take your regular medication for chronic diseases (e.g. hypertension, cholesterol) but are to omit your diabetic medication until you have taken your breakfast.
Yes. It does not matter where your medication comes from. What matters is that you are being monitored properly. Many of our patients obtain PrEP from various sources and use Regis Medical for their regular check-ups and screening.
Our monitoring packages include metabolic and organ function blood work, kidney function, liver function, full blood count, lipid panel, HbA1c, bone profile, alongside the STI screening. This is important because PrEP affects your kidneys and bones over time, and these need to be tracked. A standard STD test at most clinics does not include these markers.
The Annual Sexual Health Screen packages include lipid panel and HbA1c, which are more accurate with fasting (8–10 hours, water is fine). The PrEP Monitoring Programme quarterly visits do not require fasting unless your annual blood work is being done at that visit. Our staff will confirm when you book.
Yes. Daily PrEP is effective and recommended for all genders. We offer monitoring for women on PrEP, with the option to include cervical screening and vaginal health testing through our women's packages. Your monitoring schedule will be tailored to your regimen and exposure profile at your initial consultation.
Absolutely. The Annual Sexual Health Screen packages are designed for any sexually active adult who wants a comprehensive check. You do not need to be on PrEP to benefit from thorough sexual health and metabolic screening.
Completely. All consultations, results, and records are kept strictly private. We do not share information with employers, insurers, or family members without your explicit consent.
