What is a Syphilis Test
A syphilis test is a test used to detect the presence of antibodies to the bacterium Treponema pallidum, which causes syphilis. The test may involve blood samples or samples taken from sores (if present).
The syphilis test at Regis Medical is called the Bioline™ SYPHILIS 3.0 ANTIBODY TEST. It is a rapid test used to detect antibodies against Treponema pallidum (TP), the bacteria that causes syphilis. During the test, a small amount of blood is collected from a finger prick. The result will be available within 15 - 20 mins.
When to take the Syphilis test?
- Have had unprotected sexual contact with someone who may have syphilis.
- Have symptoms suggestive of syphilis, such as genital sores, skin rashes, or flu-like symptoms.
- Are pregnant, as syphilis can be transmitted from mother to child during pregnancy or childbirth.
- Are entering into a new sexual relationship and want to ensure they are free from sexually transmitted infections.
- Have been diagnosed with another sexually transmitted infection, as co-infection with syphilis is possible.

No refund will be issued for no shows and cancellations within 24 hours before your appointment.
