STD Testing

An STD/STI test is a test for sexually transmitted disease (STD) or sexually transmitted infections (STI).

STDs can be transmitted via oral, vaginal, and anal sex, with or without protection. You are recommended to get STD tests regularly if you are sexually active. 

If you are sexually active, it is strongly advised to make regular STD testing a standard practice, given the potential risks associated with intimate encounters. At Regis Medical, we offer a variety of accessible and confidential STD testing services to safeguard your sexual well-being and that of your partners.

Common STDs in Singapore 

The most common STDs in Singapore are chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, genital warts, and herpes.

Some STDs such as chlamydia and gonorrhoea are asymptomatic for majority of people.

Some STDs also show different symptoms at different stages of the illness, such as syphilis.

STD Symptoms

Men: Abnormal discharge from the penis or anus, pain or discomfort when urinating, pain during sexual intercourse, the development of rashes either localized or generalized on your body, or the appearance of growths or ulcers around the penis or anus. Itchiness in the penile or anal area can also be a cause for concern.

Taking care of your sexual health is vital, and getting tested is a proactive step towards maintaining a healthy sexual life.

Who should get STD tests 

If you are sexually active, you should get tested regularly, especially if you have multiple sexual partners. It is recommended to be tested once a year if you are sexually active or whenever you have a new sex partner.

  • Have STD symptoms such as itching, discharge or pain
  • Believe you had been exposed to individuals carrying STD virus

How to prepare for STD testing at Regis Medical 

For urine tests, please hold your urine for at least 2 hours before your tests.

For ladies, it is not advisable to do STD testing during a menstrual period. Avoid using vaginal creams, medicines, foams, tampons and lubricants, before seeing our Doctor. 

You will receive your STD test results via email.

Appointment

Can I just walk in for a STD test? 

Yes, you can. However, to avoid long waiting time, we strongly advise you to book your appointments in advance. You can book an appointment here

What is Regis Medical’s cancellation policy and refund policy?

You can only cancel or change your appointments up to 24 hours before your appointment. You will receive your refund within 14 working days. No refund will be issued for no shows and cancellations within 24 hours before your appointment. However, if you are feeling unwell on the day of the appointment, we allow patients who have their acute illness seen at Regis Medical to reschedule their appointment without extra cost.

Can I reschedule my appointment?

Yes. You can reschedule your appointments. However, you need to reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours before your actual appointment time. If you are unwell on the day of the appointment, we will reschedule your appointment at no extra cost if you seek medical attention at our clinic (for non-emergencies only).

What languages do Regis Medical GP Doctors speak?  
Most of our Doctors are competent in English and Mandarin. Some Doctors are able to speak Bahasa. Our clinic assistants are also multi-lingual and proficient in English, Mandarin and Malay.
I would  like to see a female Doctor only, is it possible?
If you prefer a female Doctor to see you, please contact us beforehand to fix an appointment with our female Doctors. Otherwise, we may not be able to guarantee a female Doctor available during your visit.

No. We do not offer express STD tests.
Can Regis Medical GP Clinics offer self STD tests? 
No. We do not offer self STD tests. STD tests are only done by our certified Doctors in clinic.

Yes. We can treat certain STD conditions such as Herpes, Gonorrhoea, Syphilis, Chlamydia. For the other STD conditions, we can refer you to a specialist for treatments.
